him victory over Makkah, Khaybar, Bahrayn, all of the Arabian Peninsula
and Yemen; and he took Jizyah from the Zoroastrians of Hajar and from
some of the border lands of Syria; and he exchanged gifts with
Heraclius the ruler of Byzantium, the ruler of Egypt and Alexandria,
the Muqawqis, the kings of Oman and An-Najashi of Abyssinia, who had
become king after Ashamah, may Allah have mercy on him and grant him
honor.... Allah's Promise to the Believers that He
would grant them Succession
- 9:33. It is He Who has
sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth
(Islâm), to make
it superior over all religions
even though the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers
in the Oneness of Allâh) hate (it).

And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allâh) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allâh Alone [in the whole of the world ]. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter . And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Kursî extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. [This Verse 2:255 is called Ayat-ul-Kursî.]

Allâh, the True King, Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be
worshipped but He), the Lord
of the Supreme Throne!
- 33:36. It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allâh and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allâh and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in a plain error.

their decision.) This Ayah is
general in meaning and applies to all matters, i.e., if Allah and His
Messenger decreed a matter, no one has the right to go against that,
and no one has any choice or room for personal opinion in this case.
Allah says: (But no, by your Lord, they
can have no faith, until they make you judge in all disputes between
them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and
accept (them) with full submission.) (4:65) Hence the issue of
going against it is addressed in such strong terms, as Allah says: (And
whoever disobeys Allah
and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed into a plain error.)
This is like the Ayah:
(And let those who oppose the Messenger's commandment, beware, lest some Fitnah should befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them) (24:63). ... The Reason for Revelation
Islam not only allows, but mandates offensive violence in obtaining temporal power. I do not ask you to take my word for this, I have ample evidence in Islam's canon of scripture, tradition, jurisprudence & exegeses.
Jihad is mandated by Surah Al-Baqarah
216.
- 2:216. Jihâd (holy fighting in Allâh's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allâh knows but you do not know.
- In this Ayah, Allah made it obligatory for the Muslims to fight in Jihad against the evil of the enemy who transgress against Islam. Az-Zuhri said, "Jihad is required from every person, whether he actually joins the fighting or remains behind. Whoever remains behind is required to give support, if support is warranted; to provide aid, if aid is needed; and to march forth, if he is commanded to do so. If he is not needed, then he remains behind.''... Jihad is made Obligatory
- (The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and do mischief in the land is only that they shall be killed or crucified or their hands and their feet be cut off on the opposite sides, or be exiled from the land.) `Wage war' mentioned here means, oppose and contradict, and it includes disbelief, blocking roads and spreading fear in the fairways.... The Punishment of those Who Cause Mischief in the Land
- 8:60. And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not know but whom Allah does know. And whatever you shall spend in the Cause of Allah shall be repaid unto you, and you shall not be treated unjustly.
- 9:123. O you who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are close to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allâh is with those who are the Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2).

Narrated Anas ibn Malik:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Three things are the roots of faith: to refrain from (killing) a person who utters, "There is no god but Allah" and not to declare him unbeliever whatever sin he commits, and not to excommunicate him from Islam for his any action; and jihad will be performed continuously since the day Allah sent me as a prophet until the day the last member of my community will fight with the Dajjal (Antichrist). The tyranny of any tyrant and the justice of any just (ruler) will not invalidate it. One must have faith in Divine decree. - Abu Dawud Book 23, Number 3455:
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar:
I heard the Apostle of Allah, (peace_be_upon_him) say: When you enter into the inah transaction, hold the tails of oxen, are pleased with agriculture, and give up conducting jihad (struggle in the way of Allah). Allah will make disgrace prevail over you, and will not withdraw it until you return to your original religion.
O9.1: The Obligatory Character of Jihad
Jihad is a communal obligation (def: c3.2). When enough people perform it to successfully accomplish it, it is no longer obligatory upon others (O: the evidence for which is the Prophet's saying (Allah bless him and give him peace),
"He who provides the equipment for a soldier in jihad has himself performed jihad,"
and Allah Most High having said:
"Those of the believers who are unhurt but sit behind are not equal to those who fight in Allah's path with their property and lives. Allah has preferred those who fight with their property and lives a whole degree above those who sit behind. And to each, Allah has promised great good" (Koran 4:95).
If none of those concerned perform jihad, and it does not happen at all, then everyone who is aware that it is obligatory is guilty of sin, if there was a possibility of having performed it. In the time of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) jihad was a communal obligation after his emigration (hijra) to Medina. As for subsequent times, there are two possible states in respect to non-Muslims.
The first is when they are in their own countries, in which case jihad (def: o9.8) is a communal obligation, and this is what our author is speaking of when he says, "Jihad is a communal obligation," meaning upon the Muslims each year.
The second state is when non-Muslims invade a Muslim country or near to one, in which case jihad is personally obligatory (def: c3.2) upon the inhabitants of that country, who must repel the non-Muslims with whatever they can).
O9.8: The Objectives of Jihad
The caliph (o25) makes war upon Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians (N: provided he has first invited them to enter Islam in faith and practice, and if they will not, then invited them to enter the social order of Islam by paying the non-Muslim poll tax (jizya, def: o11.4) -which is the significance of their paying it, not the money itself-while remaining in their ancestral religions) (O: and the war continues) until they become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax (O: in accordance with the word of Allah Most High,
"Fight those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and who forbid not what Allah and His messenger have forbidden-who do not practice the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the Book-until they pay the poll tax out of hand and are humbled" (Koran 9.29),...
. Take note of the last highlighted phrase in O9.1: meaning upon the Muslims each year. What does it mean? Could it possibly mean that offensive Jihad against Kuffar must be performed at least once each year until Dar al-Harb is entirely conquered? Al-Shaffi'i & Al-Ghazali agree on this essential matter of Shari'ah.

Victoria Part Three: The Anti-Islam Guy
The above linked blog post from '05 contains a photo of Lorenzo Bouchard wearing a sandwich board which reads: " Awake Islam's a Religion of War".There is a coffee cup in his left hand, fliers in his right. No weapons; no threats. The other side of his sign is a cross. Here is what the blogger had to write on that occasion.
It seems this guy is downright sick of Muslim fundamentalists blowing stuff up, and offers another crusade as a viable solution. Hold you comments for just one second–there are excellent results from a successful crusade or genocide. You meet your objective of eliminating the thread at hand. However, the collateral damage is usually considered (i.e., should be) to be too significant a cost to pay in exchange for your goals. In this way, most civilized nations prefer to try and isolate and punish criminals as entities-of-themselves and not entities-in-a-state.
You can imagine why I thought this was weird, then. In the US, this kind of reaction is expected. In my peace-loving Canada? No way!
Given a voice crying in the city, warning of Islam's evil nature & intention, the blogger conjures up the image of a Crusade and imputes genocidal intent. On the other hand, he displays his bias by characterizing the Mujahideen as domestic criminals to be arrested & prosecuted.
The blogger makes the mistake of overlooking the fact that Islam conflates temporal & spiritual power. Moe was Allah's vice-regent, empowered to rule the world. The structure of Islam's Caliphate is feudalistic. As Moe conquered one kindom after another, he set up local rulers to maintain control and collect Zakat & Jizya, forwarding them to Mekkah.

8:73. And those who disbelieve are allies to one another, (and) if you (Muslims of the whole world collectively) do not do so (i.e. become allies, as one united block with one Khalifah - chief Muslim ruler for the whole Muslim world to make victorious Allâh's Religion of Islâmic Monotheism), there will be Fitnah (wars, battles, polytheism, etc.) and oppression on earth, and a great mischief and corruption (appearance of polytheism).
Moe's intent was to have one monolithic entity: Ummah al-Islamiyya, the Nation of Islam.
Jihad is war, not a common domestic
criminal offense. Jihad is also a mandatory
intrinsic sacrament of Islam, which, by Islamic
law, must be carried out at least once in every year.

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 65:
Narrated Abu Musa:
A man came to the Prophet and asked, "A man fights for war booty; another fights for fame and a third fights for showing off; which of them fights in Allah's Cause?" The Prophet said, "He who fights that Allah's Word (i.e. Islam) should be superior, fights in Allah's Cause."
What is the legal definition? Umdat as-Salik has the answer.
Chapter O9.0: Jihad
(O: Jihad means to war against non-Muslims, and is etymologically derived from the word mujahada signifying warfare to establish the religion. And it is the lesser jihad. As for the greater jihad, it is spiritual warfare against the lower self (nafs), which is why the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said as he was returning from jihad.
``We have returned from the lesser jihad to the greater jihad.''
The scriptural basis for jihad, prior to scholarly consensus (def: b7) is such Koranic verses as:
-1- ``Fighting is prescribed for you'' (Koran 2:216);
-2- ``Slay them wherever you find them'' (Koran 4:89);
-3- ``Fight the idolators utterly'' (Koran 9:36);
and such hadiths as the one related by Bukhari and Muslim that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:
``I have been commanded to fight people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and perform the prayer, and pay zakat. If they say it, they have saved their blood and possessions from me, except for the rights of Islam over them. And their final reckoning is with Allah'';
and the hadith reported by Muslim,
``To go forth in the morning or evening to fight in the path of Allah is better than the whole world and everything in it.''Details concerning jihad are found in the accounts of the military expeditions of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), including his own martial forays and those on which he dispatched others. The former consist of the ones he personally attended, some twenty-seven (others say twenty-nine) of them. He fought in eight of them, and killed only one person with his noble hand, Ubayy ibn Khalaf, at the battle of Uhud. On the latter expeditions he sent others to fight, himself remaining at Medina, and these were forty-seven in number.)

4:74. Let those (believers) who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter fight in the Cause of Allâh, and whoso fights in the Cause of Allâh, and is killed or gets victory, We shall bestow on him a great reward.

You desire the good of this world (i.e. the money of ransom for freeing the captives), but Allâh desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

Abu Dawud Book 38, Number 4390:
Narrated Atiyyah al-Qurazi:
I was among the captives of Banu Qurayzah. They (the Companions) examined us, and those who had begun to grow hair (pubes) were killed, and those who had not were not killed. I was among those who had not grown hair. -
47:4. So, when you meet (in fight Jihâd in Allâh's Cause), those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (on them, i.e. take them as captives). Thereafter (is the time) either for generosity (i.e. free them without ransom), or ransom (according to what benefits Islâm), until the war lays down its burden. Thus [you are ordered by Allâh to continue in carrying out Jihâd against the disbelievers till they embrace Islâm (i.e. are saved from the punishment in the Hell-fire) or at least come under your protection], but if it had been Allâh's Will, He Himself could certainly have punished them (without you). But (He lets you fight), in order to test you, some with others. But those who are killed in the Way of Allâh, He will never let their deeds be lost,

Muslim Book 041, Number 6985:
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.

dealing with the Shebaa farms area, and to present to the Security Council those
proposals within thirty days;
Did the Blue Hats prevent firing missiles into Israel? No; a civilian discovered 7 rockets, informed the Blue Hats, who disarmed them. Five more escaped their attention and delivered their warheads to Israel, one of them exploding in a retirement home.
Anyone with any knowledge of the
precedents and any common sense, knows damn well that:
- Blue Hats will not disarm Hamas
- Blue Hats will not prevent smuggling in more rockets
- Blue Hats will not prevent launching rockets into Israel
- Blue Hats will only serve as human shields for Hamas.

Narrated Ibn Hawalah:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: It will turn out that you will be armed troops, one is Syria, one in the Yemen and one in Iraq. Ibn Hawalah said: Choose for me, Apostle of Allah, if I reach that time. He replied: Go to Syria, for it is Allah's chosen land, to which his best servants will be gathered but if you are unwilling, go to your Yemen, and draw water from your tanks, for Allah has on my account taken special charge of Syria and its people. - Muslim Book 041, Number 6985:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Three things are the roots of faith: to refrain from (killing) a person who utters, "There is no god but Allah" and not to declare him unbeliever whatever sin he commits, and not to excommunicate him from Islam for his any action; and jihad will be performed continuously since the day Allah sent me as a prophet until the day the last member of my community will fight with the Dajjal (Antichrist). The tyranny of any tyrant and the justice of any just (ruler) will not invalidate it. One must have faith in Divine decree.
Since Israel is living proof that Allah is an impotent idol and his promises are null & void, Muslims can not tolerate her existence. Israel can not obtain peace until Islam becomes extinct. No negotiation. no concession, no good will gesture, no land; nothing but ridding the world of Islam will bring peace to the region! All of these high sounding UN resolutions are counter productive, bringing only renewed and expanded bloodshed, never peace.
Israel must tell the UN, the 'Quartet", the EU, and the whole damn pack of hangers on to go to Hell. Israel must root out Hamas 100%, no matter how long it takes; no matter how many lives are lost in the process. Then she must ask: "Whose next?". that the USA did not veto the resolution, apparently relying on Hamas's
expressed intent to reject it. The resolution should have been vetoed

Narrated Ibn Hawalah:
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: It will turn out that you will be armed troops, one is Syria, one in the Yemen and one in Iraq. Ibn Hawalah said: Choose for me, Apostle of Allah, if I reach that time. He replied: Go to Syria, for it is Allah's chosen land, to which his best servants will be gathered but if you are unwilling, go to your Yemen, and draw water from your tanks, for Allah has on my account taken special charge of Syria and its people.
Now examine Allah's promises.
- 3:160. If Allah helps you, none can overcome you; and if He forsakes you, who is there after Him that can help you? And in Allah (Alone) let believers put their trust.
- 13:41. See they not that We gradually reduce the land (of disbelievers, by giving it to the believers, in war victories) from its outlying borders. And Allah judges, there is none to put back His Judgement and He is Swift at reckoning.

In other words, Islamic conquest is final. In this case, it wasn't. The Ottoman Empire lost the Levant. Israel threw out the last of her conquerors and resumed soverignty. Following discussions and consultations between the Caliph of Islam, 'Umar Ibn al-Khattab, and the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, be peace and prayer upon him, they decided that the land should remain in the hands of its owners to benefit from it and from its wealth; but the control of the land and the land itself ought to be endowed as a Waqf [in perpetuity] for all generations of Muslims until the Day of Resurrection. The ownership of the land by its owners is only one of usufruct, and this Waqf will endure as long as Heaven and earth last. Any demarche in violation of this law of Islam, with regard to Palestine, is baseless and reflects on its perpetrators.
No concessions, no ceding of territory, no good will gestures, no negotiations; nothing short of extermination will stop Islam's reconquest.
If Israel will not exterminate the Muslims or at least push them back beyond rocket range, she will never have peace and security. All of your peace plans, proposals and road maps are counterproductive, rewarding Islamic aggression.

Taken at face value, the eleventh point means that the participants accept the concept of benign religion. Lets break it down into discrete elements for easier analysis.We profess that Catholics and Muslims are called to be instruments of love and harmony among believers, and for humanity as a whole, renouncing any oppression, aggressive violence and terrorism, especially that committed in the name of religion, and upholding the principle of justice for all.

Universal benevolence is part of Christianity, not part of Islam.
Islamic charity extends to their Muslim brothers, not to the
wider world. Examine 2:273 and the surrounding context. Where does the loot come from, and where does it go?
- 8:41. And know that whatever of war-booty that you may gain, verily one-fifth (1/5th) of it is assigned to Allah, and to the Messenger, and to the near relatives [of the Messenger (Muhammad)], (and also) the orphans, Al-Masakin (the poor) and the wayfarer, if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our slave (Muhammad) on the Day of criterion (between right and wrong), the Day when the two forces met (the battle of Badr) - And Allah is Able to do all things.
Renouncing oppression? A great sentiment, ain't it, but it ain't
part of Islam. Observe 3:110 and the saying which explains its meaning.

You [true believers in Islamic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden), and you believe in Allah. And had the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) believed, it would have been better for them; among them are some who have faith, but most of them are Al-Fasiqun (disobedient to Allah - and rebellious against Allah's Command).

Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Verse:--"You (true Muslims) are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind." means, the best of peoples for the people, as you bring them with chains on their necks till they embrace Islam. - 47:4. So, when you meet (in fight Jihad in Allah's Cause), those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (on them, i.e. take them as captives). Thereafter (is the time) either for generosity (i.e. free them without ransom), or ransom (according to what benefits Islam), until the war lays down its burden. Thus [you are ordered by Allah to continue in carrying out Jihad against the disbelievers till they embrace Islam...
Renouncing aggressive violence violates Islamic law. Reliance of the Traveller
makes it clear to all who will read it that Muslims may not abjure any
part of the Qur'an. There is a list in O8.7, of acts which entail
apostasy, which bears the death penalty.[O.8.1, 8.2]
- O8.7.7 to deny any verse of the Koran or anything which by scholarly consensus (def: b7) belongs to it, or to add a verse that does belong to it;
- 2:216. Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.
- 8:39. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone [in the whole of the world ]. But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allah), then certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what they do.

Justice is another matter. When Catholics use that word, the subtext is most likely to be Socialism. When Muslims use it, the subtext is "just us". 2:282 starts out with the proper meaning of justice, but deviates from it by declaring female testimony inferior. 4:29-30 deal with Justice between Muslims, of course, Kuffar are another matter; fair prey as per . Bukhari 1.8.387.
Either the Muslim participants in the forum are contradicting Allah
&
his Messenger and abandoning Islam or their affirmation of peace & justice is
