In the first installment of this series, I used related ayat, several commentaries & tafsirs and two ahadith to prove the fact that Al-Anfal 12 says what it means and means what it says. It is an open ended, generally applicable command to terrify Islam's intended victims. In this installment, I include more related ayat and their supporting documentation.
First, we'll examine the Hilali&
Khan translation of 8:60,
8:60 And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not know but whom Allah does know. And whatever you shall spend in the Cause of Allah shall be repaid unto you, and you shall not be treated unjustly.
Ibn Kathir has an interesting title for his tafsir of this ayeh: Making Preparations for War to strike Fear in the Hearts of the Enemies of Allah. "To strike fear in the hearts" should clue us in. For the benefit of the slow students, I'll quote the relevant part of the tafsir.
Allah commands; it is an order, not a suggestion. The purpose is to threaten/strike fear; he might as well have written terrify. Abdullah Yusuf Ali selected different words to express the same concept.Allah commands Muslims to prepare for war against disbelievers, as much as possible, according to affordability and availability. Allah said, (And make ready against them all you can) whatever you can muster, (of power, including steeds of war) (to threaten), or to strike fear, (the enemy of Allah and your enemy), the disbelievers, (and others besides them), such as Bani Qurayzah, according to Mujahid, or persians, according to As-Suddi..
Rodwell & Sale use similar wording, Arberry writes: " to terrify thereby". Examine Ali's commentary.Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of God and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom God doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of God, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.
Tafsir al-Jalalain is no less explicit.v.60 : The immediate occasion of this injunction was the weakness of cavalary and appointments of war in the early fights of Islam. But the general meaning follows. In every fight, physical, moral, or spiritual, arm yourself with the best weapons and the best arms against your enemy, so as to instil wholesome respect into him for you and the Cause you stand for....
... that thereby you may dismay, terrify, the enemy of God...
Tafsir Ibn Abbas covers the same bases.
Does it say what it means? Does it mean what it says? We learn the answers by examining what Muhammad did, which is revealed in Surat Al-Ahzab & Al-Hashr.(Make ready for them) for the Banu Qurayzah as well as for others (all thou canst of force) of arms (and of horses tethered) of female tethered horses which are prepared for fighting, (that thereby ye may dismay) that you may strike fear by means of these horses in (the enemy of Allah) with regard to religion (and your enemy) by killing them, (and others beside them) besides the Banu Qurayzah and all the Arabs; it is also said that this is a reference to the disbelievers among the jinn (whom you know not) you do not know their number. (Allah knoweth them) Allah knows their number. (Whatsoever) of wealth (you spend in the way of Allah) in obedience of Allah, whether it is arms or horses (it will be repaid to you in full) its reward will be repaid to you, none of it will be diminished, (and ye will not be wronged) your reward will not be diminished.
Allah terrified them; Moe & his army killed some and captivated others and took their property Once again we turn to Ibn Kathir for an explanation.33:26-27 And those of the people of the Scripture who backed them (the disbelievers) Allah brought them down from their forts and cast terror into their hearts, (so that) a group (of them) you killed, and a group (of them) you made captives. And He caused you to inherit their lands, and their houses, and their riches, and a land which you had not trodden (before). And Allah is Able to do all things.
This is confirmed by Tafsir al-Jalalain.. (and cast terror into their hearts;) means fear, because they had supported the idolators in their war against the Messenger of Allah and the one who knows is not like the one who does not know. They had terrified the Muslims and intended to kill them so as to gain earthly power, but their plans backfired; the idolators ran away and the believers were victorious while the disbelievers were losers; where they had aimed for glory, they were humiliated. They wanted to eradicate the Muslims but they were themselves eradicated. In addition to all this, they are doomed in the Hereafter, so by all acounts they are counted as losers. Allah says: (a group you killed, and a group you made captives.) Those who were killed were their warriors, and the prisoners were their children and women.
...and He cast terror into their hearts, [so that] some, of them, you slew, and these were the combatants, and some, of them, you took captive, namely, their children....
Likewise Tafsir Ibn Abbas.
...(and cast panic into their hearts) from Muhammad (pbuh) and his Companions, whereas before that they did not fear them and fought against them. (Some you slew) He says: you kill some of them, you sentence them to death, (and you made captive some) their children and women. ...
It was not a singular incident; besides the Banu Qurayzah, they also terrorized the Bani An-Nadir. Note the last sentence in this ayeh; it is a warning, intended to terrify future victims. Do you have eyes to see?59:2 He it is Who drove out the disbelievers among the people of the Scripture (i.e. the Jews of the tribe of Bani An-Nadir) from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think that they would get out. And they thought that their fortresses would defend them from Allah! But Allah's (Torment) reached them from a place whereof they expected it not, and He cast terror into their hearts, so that they destroyed their own dwellings with their own hands and the hands of the believers. Then take admonition, O you with eyes (to see).
Ibn Kathir verifies the warning.
For the terminally slow learners, who need further verification, I provide links to Tafsir al-jalalain & Tafsir Ibn Abbas for parallel explanations of 59:2. The normal students, as well as the fast learners will, by now, recognize that my use of Al-Anfal 12 was entirely justified, neither overly selective nor out of context. If you doubt that I have established the fact that terrorism is an intrinsic, orthodox sacrament of Islam, turn back to the previous installment and re-read the ahadith cited therein; Moe bragged about gaining victory by terrifying his victims. Then take admonition, O you with eyes.) meaning, "Contemplate the end of those who defied Allah's command, contradicted His Messenger and denied His Book. See how Allah's humiliating torment struck them in this life, as well as, the painful torment that Allah has reserved for them in the Hereafter.''
We hear about 'defamation of religions' from the U.N.H.R.C. and in December of '07, the U.N. General Assembly passed a resolution condemning it. We are familiar with Muslims complaining that their Prophet has been blasphemed. You are about to learn of Islam's blasphemy concerning your Saviour. Gentle reader, put all fire, choke and spill hazards securely aside, this information may shock you.
The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh: What do
Muslims think about Jesus ?
Muslims respect and revere Jesus (P.B.U.H) and await his Second Coming. They consider him one of the greatest of God's messengers to mankind.
What does Islam's canon of scripture say about Jesus? [Emphasis added.]
| Verily, the likeness of 'Iesa (Jesus) before Allah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: "Be!" - and he was. |
| Then whoever disputes with you concerning him ['Iesa (Jesus)] after (all this) knowledge that has come to you, [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus)] being a slave of Allah, and having no share in Divinity)... |
| ...And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), but must believe in him ['Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), as only a Messenger of Allah and a human being]... |
| "He ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: Verily! I am a slave of Allah, He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet;" |
| He ['Iesa (Jesus)] was not more than a slave. We granted Our Favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father). |
| . No son (or offspring or children) did Allah beget, nor is there any ilah (god) along with Him; ... |
| And because of their saying (in boast), "We killed Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah," - but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of 'Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) ]: But Allah raised him ['Iesa (Jesus)] up (with his body and soul) unto Himself (and he is in the heavens). And Allah is Ever AllPowerful, AllWise. |
| O you who believe! Be you helpers (in the
Cause) of Allah as said 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), to
AlHawarîûn (the disciples): "Who are my helpers (in the Cause) of Allah?"
AlHawarîeen (the disciples) said: "We are Allah's helpers" (i.e. we
will strive in His Cause!). Then a group of the Children of Israel
believed and a group disbelieved. So We gave power to those who believed against their enemies, and they became the uppermost. |
| ...(So, We gave power to those who believed against their enemies, and they became the victorious (uppermost).) through the victory that Muhammad gained over the religion of the disbelievers, which brought the dominance of their religion.'' This is the wording in his book for the Tafsir of this honorable Ayah. Similarly, An-Nasa'i collected this statement of Ibn `Abbas in his Sunan. Therefore, the Ummah of Muhammad will always be prevalent on the truth until Allah's command (the Final Hour) commences, while they are on this path. The last group of them will fight against Ad-Dajjal along with `Isa, peace be on him, according to Hadiths in the authentic collections. |
I have now displayed to you proof from the Qur'an, Hilali & Khan's translation [linked to nine parallel translations] that, according to Islam, Jesus was:
- human
- not divine
- not the son of God
- Alah's slave
- not crucified
- not killed
- not resurrected
- a warrior
|
Muhammad said that he is half brother to Jesus! Can he possibly top that one? This is a long hadith, but the full context is necessary to comprehending its enormity. The most essential clauses are highlighted.
|
Muhammad has cast himself as superior to Jesus! Notice the chain of succession of prophets, Muhammad, being the final prophet, is superior.
I have saved the worst for last. What will Jesus do when he returns?
Bukhari's collection of authentic hadith is informative.

What is the meaning of break the cross and kill the pig? Can it mean anything less than the destruction of Judiasm & Christianity? If you harbor such hope, you are sadly deluded, as you will see from this next tafsir.
| ...He will break the cross, kill the pig, and banish the Jizyah and will call the people to Islam. During his time, Allah will destroy all religions except Islam and Allah will destroy Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal (the False Messiah).... |
Can it possibly get any worse? They claim that Jesus was totally human,
not divine, not God's son and that he will destroy Christianity.
What is worse than that. Genocide! Islam teaches that
Jesus will commit genocide! I discovered this information by following a link in an article by Ibn Misr at Sons Of Apes And Pigs. I will quote an ayat, followed by Ibn Kathir's Tafsir of that ayat, which makes my case beyond any doubt. .
| And (remember) when your Lord declared that He would certainly keep on sending against them (i.e. the Jews), till the Day of Resurrection, those who would afflict them with a humiliating torment. Verily, your Lord is Quick in Retribution (for the disobedient, wicked) and certainly He is OftForgiving, Most Merciful (for the obedient and those who beg Allah's Forgiveness). |
Allah will torment the Jews, so? Until the Day of Resurrection; then what happens? The tafsir has a shocking revelation.
| ...Isa, son of Mary, will kill the Jews. This will occur just before the end of this world.... |
Do you fully comprehend what you have just read? Another hadith will provide some clarity.
| Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him." |
Muslims must hunt down and kill the last Jew as a prerequisite to entering Paradise to enjoy their Houris & rivers of wine. And Jesus Christ will lead them in that bloody battle.
To summarize Islam's characterization of our Saviour:
- human
- not divine
- not the son of God
- Alah's slave
- not crucified
- not killed
- not resurrected
- Muhammad's inferior half brother
- a warrior
- genocidal
- destroyer of Christianity.
The literal meaning of Jihad is striving. Who or what are Muslims
striving against when they go out for Jihad? Are they striving against
their egos and temptations? How does one suffer death or
injury in that struggle?
| 4:74. Let those (believers) who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter fight in the Cause of Allâh, and whoso fights in the Cause of Allâh, and is killed or gets victory, We shall bestow on him a great reward. |
| 9:111 ...They fight in Allâh's Cause, so they kill (others) and are killed.... |
What is fighting in Allah's cause?
| Bukhari 4.52.65 ..."He who fights that Allah's Word (i.e. Islam) should be superior, fights in Allah's Cause." ... |
Having considered Moe's recitation & sunnah, lets examine Sharia, the Islamic law which flows from those documents. My source is The Reliance of the Traveller and Tools of the Worshipper , described in its introduction as "a summary of the school of Imam Shafi'i ".
The meaning of Jihad is explained in
Book O, Chapter 9, Paragraph 0
|
Jihad means to war against non-Muslims, and is etymologically derived from the word mujahada signifying warfare to establish the religion. And it is the lesser jihad. As for the greater jihad, it is spiritual warfare against the lower self (nafs), which is why the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said as he was returning from jihad. "We have returned from the lesser jihad to the greater jihad." |
The scriptural basis for that definition is listed as:
and such hadiths as the one related by Bukhari and Muslim that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "I have been commanded to fight people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and perform the prayer, and pay zakat. If they say it, they have saved their blood and possessions from me, except for the rights of Islam over them. And their final reckoning is with Allah"; and the hadith reported by Muslim, "To go forth in the morning or evening to fight in the path of Allah is better than the whole world and everything in it. |
Paragraph 1 of this chapter reveals an
important fact about the obligation of Jihad.
| ...there are two possible
states in respect to non-Muslims.
The first is when they are in their own countries, in which case jihad (def: o9.8) is a communal obligation, and this is what our author is speaking of when he says, "Jihad is a communal obligation," meaning upon the Muslims each year. The second state is when non-Muslims invade a Muslim country or near to one, in which case jihad is personally obligatory (def: c3.2) upon the inhabitants of that country, who must repel the non-Muslims with whatever they can). |
A communal obligation meaning upon the Muslims each year. What must they do annually? Al-Misri informs us in the eighth paragraph of this chapter.

@O9.9 The caliph fights all other peoples until they become Muslim (O: because they are not a people with a Book, nor honored as such, and are not permitted to settle with paying the poll tax (jizya) ) (n: though according to the Hanafi school, peoples of all other religions, even idol worshippers, are permitted to live under the protection of the Islamic state if they either become Muslim or agree to pay the poll tax, the sole exceptions to which are apostates from Islam and idol worshippers who are Arabs, neither of whom has any choice but becoming Muslim (al-Hidaya sharh Bidaya al-mubtadi' (y21), 6.48-49) ). |
Where did Al-Misri get such an idea?
Lets review what we have learned from our little inquiry into Sharia.
- Jihad means to war against non-Muslims [and is] warfare to establish the religion.
- Jihad has a scriptural basis in the recitation & tradition, particularly 9:29. & Bukhari 1.8.387
- Jihad is better than the whole world and everything in it.
- Offensive Jihad is a communal obligation to be performed every year.
- The Caliph makes war upon Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians. [Annually].
- The caliph fights all other peoples until they become Muslim.

Sons Of Apes And Pigs revealed the following article:
Against the Term "Moderate Muslims"
by Abdennur Prado
wherein are found the following gems of idiocy.
If these are the sacraments of a 'moderate religion', what in Hell are the sacraments of an 'extreme religion'? [I have quoted Rodwell's translation and linked to ten parallel translations and to Ibn Kathir's Tafsir.]In reality, the term "moderate Islam" is strange, since Islam is in essence a moderate religion.
- Fight them until...
- Make war upon such of those to whom the Scriptures have been given...
- ...Strike off their heads then, and strike off from them every finger-tip....
- ... No prophet hath been enabled to take captives until he had made great slaughter in the earth...
- The Command to strike the Enemies' Necks, tighten Their Bonds, and then free Them either by an Act of Grace or for a Ransom.
- Abu Dawud Book 38, Number 4390:
Narrated Atiyyah al-Qurazi:
I was among the captives of Banu Qurayzah. They (the Companions) examined us, and those who had begun to grow hair (pubes) were killed, and those who had not were not killed. I was among those who had not grown hair.
There is no moderate Islam, because there isn't any immoderate Islam, for the same rule of three: if someone is fanatical, it means that he has made his religion a barrier, an idol against other religions, therefore he has not accepted diversity as a mandate, and he has not submitted himself to a Creator who gives us diversity as one of His most marvelous signs.
What mandate for diversity?
- Whoso desireth any other religion than Islam, that religion shall never be accepted from him, and in the next world he shall be among the lost.
- O ye who have believed! form not intimacies among others than yourselves....
- He it is who hath sent His Apostle with the Guidance and a religion of the truth, that He may make it victorious over every other religion, albeit they who assign partners to God be averse from it.
According to Newsmax,
& Reuters:
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter plans to meet Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal in Syria next week, despite U.S. efforts to isolate the Islamist Palestinian group, Al Jazeera television said.
Mr. Carter, there are no printable English language words sufficient to express the deep disregard & utter contempt in which your attitudes toward Islam, its war against America & Israel and our attempts at self-defense are held by patriotic Americans.
Not that we have any respect for the policies of our current President & Secretary of State, incompetent morons superior only to your own execrable leadership.
Neither America nor
Israel is at fault or blameworthy in the matter of Islamic terrorism,
which is driven by Islamic doctrine, not by any act or omission on the
part of its victims. The Qur'an was recited and codified long
before the founding of America and the restoration of Israel. It
establishes terrorism as a mandatory sacrament of Islam.
- 3:151 We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they joined others in worship with Allâh, for which He had sent no authority; their abode will be the Fire and how evil is the abode of the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers).
- 8:12 (Remember) when your Lord inspired the angels, "Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes."
- 33:26 And those of the people of the Scripture who backed them (the disbelievers) Allâh brought them down from their forts and cast terror into their hearts, (so that) a group (of them) you killed, and a group (of them) you made captives.

- 8:60 Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of God and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom God doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of God, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly. [Abdullah Yusuf Ali]

- 9:29 Make war upon such of those to whom the Scriptures have been given as believe not in God, or in the last day, and who forbid not that which God and His Apostle have forbidden, and who profess not the profession of the truth, until they pay tribute out of hand, and they be humbled. [Rodwell]
- Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 8,
Number 387:
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Allah's Apostle said, "I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.' And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally and their reckoning will be with Allah." Narrated Maimun ibn Siyah that he asked Anas bin Malik, "O Abu Hamza! What makes the life and property of a person sacred?" He replied, "Whoever says, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah', faces our Qibla during the prayers, prays like us and eats our slaughtered animal, then he is a Muslim, and has got the same rights and obligations as other Muslims have."
- The Movement's programme is Islam.
- Allah is its target, the Prophet is its model, the Koran its constitution: Jihad is its path and death for the sake of Allah is the loftiest of its wishes.
The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Moslem generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. Neither a single Arab country nor all Arab countries, neither any king or president, nor all the kings and presidents, neither any organization nor all of them, be they Palestinian or Arab, possess the right to do that. Palestine is an Islamic Waqf land consecrated for Moslem generations until Judgement Day. This being so, who could claim to have the right to represent Moslem generations till Judgement Day?
This is the law governing the land of Palestine in the Islamic Sharia (law) and the same goes for any land the Moslems have conquered by force, because during the times of (Islamic) conquests, the Moslems consecrated these lands to Moslem generations till the Day of Judgement.
- There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors.
When you go to meet Meshaal, to lift Satan's tail aside and kiss his anus, buy a one way ticket, we don't want you back. America will be much better off with one less traitor.
Hat tip: Ibn Misr. This was supposed to be about Moe's first encounter with Jibril and his wife's suggestion that he start a new faith system. That last part got short shrift. Then Moe reels off hadith in rapid fire, most of them wudu related, and embarrassing to Islam for obvious reasons. Of course, they are all authentic and documented.
The cartoon is fast paced, and the one liners fly thick and fast near the end. Be alert and rewind/replay if necessary to catch the details.
The cartoon is funny and informative, that's why I recommend it. Be sure to share it with your friends.
In a recent address to the Dutch Parliament,
Geert Wilders
cited the following ayat, some but not all of which are
quoted in his movie, Fitna.
The text of the violent ayat in the list above: [Links to Ibn Kathir's
Tafsir supplied when available.]
- 2:191 And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith. [Abdullah Yusuf Ali]
- 3:139-141 So do not become weak (against your enemy), nor be sad, and you will be superior (in victory) if you are indeed (true) believers. If a wound hath touched you, be sure a similar wound hath touched the others. Such days (of varying fortunes) We give to men and men by turns: that God may know those that believe, and that He may take to Himself from your ranks Martyr-witnesses (to Truth). And God loveth not those that do wrong. And that Allah may test (or purify) the believers (from sins) and destroy the disbelievers. [Hilali &Khan]

Over these have we given you undoubted power.[Rodwell]
- 8:39 And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone [in the whole of the world]. - 9:29 Make war upon such of those to whom the Scriptures have been given as believe not in God, or in the last day, and who forbid not that which God and His Apostle have forbidden, and who profess not the profession of the truth, until they pay tribute out of hand, and they be humbled.[Rodwell]
- 47:4 When ye encounter the infidels, strike off their heads till ye have made a great slaughter among them, and of the rest make fast the fetters. And whoso fight for the cause of God, their works he will not suffer to miscarry;[Rodwell]
